About the Exam

The SHRM Certification preparation program will include:

  • the new global Body of Competency and Knowledge (SHRM BoCK);

  • a comprehensive exam; and

  • the world-class instructional materials and certification preparation tools you have come to expect from SHRM.

 

The exam will contain Knowledge- and Competency-based questions:

The exam is delivered by computer, and candidates for both exams have 4 hours to answer a total of 160 multiple choice questions, of which approximately 60 percent are stand-alone knowledge-based questions and approximately 40 percent are scenario-based situational judgment items.


SHRM Member Exam Fee: $300* USD
Nonmember Exam Fee: $400* USD 
*Includes $50 nonrefundable application fee. 

Eligibility Requirements

 

Applicants must meet specific educational and work experience criteria at the time they submit their application in order to be eligible to sit for the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP exam. These requirements are outlined in detail on the  SHRM website.

Exam Windows

 

Three (3) 30-day exam windows occur each year:

   Spring window:  May 1 - July 15; registration opens on January 2

   Fall window:  December 1 - February 15; registration opens on May 14
