Tips:

  • Always use action verbs when describing duties (every activity/job should have duties listed).

  • Always include either the overall GPA or major-specific GPA if 3.50 or higher.

  • Make sure the overall presentation looks organized and correctly spaced.

  • Take your resume to the A&M Career Center to have it reviewed, and also use professors and peers to review.

  • Always include unpaid opportunities (internships, research, leadership positions, conferences attended, etc.)

Use these to practice your STAR Responses:

  • Tell me about a time you led a team through a challenging situation.

  • Describe a time when you took initiative to improve a process or solve a problem.

  • Share an example of how you motivated others to achieve a goal.

  • Tell me about a time you had to think outside the box to solve a problem.

  • Describe a situation where you identified a root cause and implemented a solution.

  • Share a time when you had limited resources and how you made it work.

  • Give an example of a time you had to communicate a difficult message.

  • Describe a situation where you had to collaborate with someone very different from you.

  • Tell me about a time you resolved a conflict within a team.

  • Share a time when you had to juggle multiple priorities and how you managed.

  • Describe a situation where you met a tight deadline under pressure.

  • Tell me about a time you missed a deadline. What happened and what did you learn?

  • Tell me about a time you had to adapt to a major change.

Thank-you Email Template

Here is an example of an email you can send after you have an interview. Remember, it’s

important to reach out, so they remember you!

Dear [Interviewer's Name],

 

Thank you for taking the time to speak with me today about the [Position Title] opportunity at

[Company Name]. I appreciated learning more about the team, the role, and the exciting work

happening at [Company].

 

Our conversation reinforced my enthusiasm for the position and my interest in contributing to

[specific goal, project, or value discussed]. I’m especially drawn to [mention something specific

from the interview that resonated with you].

 

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need any additional information. I look forward to the
